‘Dhvajarohan’ of ‘Anand’ and ‘Niranjani’ Akhadas held at Tryambakeshwar

‘Simhasth Parva – Nasik’

Tryambakeshwar (Nasik) : ‘Dhvajarohan’ of Anand Akhada’ and ‘Shri. Panchayati NIranjani Akhada’ of ‘Dashanaam Akhada’ was held on 15th August with lot of enthusiasm.

Many Mahants, Sadhus and Saints from other 8 ‘Akhadas’ of Tryambakeshwar took part in the celebrations.

1. A platform was erected in both the ‘Akhadas’ with 51 feet flag-pole on which a thread was tied round as a symbol of 52 mutts of ‘sadhus’ and ‘madhi’. Akhadas were freshly painted and illuminated with lights.

2. In the beginning, ‘puja’ of weapons was performed as is the practice of worshipping of weapons, treating them as Deities. These weapons were earlier used by ‘Naga-sadhus’ for protection of Dharma.

3. Similarly, spears at Shri. Panchayati Niranjani Akhadas were also worshipped known as ‘Suryaprakash’ which is long in length and ‘Bhairavprakash’, short in length. Deity Kartikeya was worshipped too on the occasion.

Mahant harigiriji Maharaj, ‘Rashtriya Mahamantri’ of ‘Akhil Bharatiya Akhada Parishad’, Shri. Mahant Premagiriji Maharaj, Vice President of ‘Shri. Panchadashnaam Juna Akhada’, Shri. Mahant Shankaranand Saraswati Maharaj, Shri. Mahant Ganeshanand Maharaj, Shri. Mahant Girijannad Maharaj, Shri. Mahant rameshpuriji Maharaj, Shri. Mahant Dr. Bindu Maharaj, Shri. Mahant Rajendradasji Maharaj, Shri. Mahant Ashihsgiriji Maharaj and hundreds of ‘Sadhus’ and Saints besides them, Shri. Madhukar Lande, former Sarpanch of Anjaneri village, Shri. Yadavrao Tungar, trustee of Tryambakeshwar Mandir, Shri. Nagare, Chief Officer of Tryambakeshwar Town Council, Sanatan Sanstha’s Shri. Vilas Garud, Shri. Sunil Ghanwat State Ccordinator of HJS, Maharashtra and Kum. Priyanka Lone etc.

In the 52 centres set up by Shankaracharya, training of ‘shastra (weapons)’ and ‘shaastra’ (Dharma Knowledge) is imparted even today !

52 small sticks were tied to flag-pole and worshipped. Adi Shankaracharya had set up 52 centres for protection of Dharma which were earlier called as ‘mathika’ and later came to know as ‘Mathi’. Among them are 27 ‘mathi’ of giris, 16 ‘mathi’ of puris, 4 of bharati, 4 of ‘Bana’ and 1 of ‘Lama’. Even today, training on ‘shastra’ and ‘shaastra’ is imparted at these centres.
