Nandurbar : Petition submitted to District Collector and SP to solve problems in Ganesh Festival

Dr. Patil explaining the subject to office bearers of Ganesh festival committees

Nandurbar : All Ganesh Festival Committees gave good response to the meeting held by Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS). The meeting was conducted to discuss how to stop increasing perversion in celebration of Ganesh festival; what are the problems faced by festival committees and their solutions etc. ‘Sarvajanik Shri Ganesh Mahamandal’ of all festival committees has been set up and representation was submitted on its behalf to District Collector and SP on 25th August.

  1. On 23rd August, a meeting was held by HJS with all festival committees at ‘Motha Maruti Mandir’.
  2. The meeting received good response and the Ganesh committees agreed to stop perversion.
  3. HJS explained points on how to celebrate the festival in ideal manner; including giving advice on less use of ‘gulal’; organizing programs like exhibitions on life history of revolutionaries instead of indecent dance programs on film songs, holding competitions on subjects which will awaken patriotism; lectures on great personalities like Chhatraapti Shivaji Maharaj, Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj etc.
  4. Office bearers of festival committees and workers also expressed their views and discussed obstacles faced by them during the festival.
  5. It was decided to set up a ‘Mahamandal’ of all Ganesh festival committees at Nandurbar as has been done in Jalgaon.
  6. It was also decided to submit petition to District Collector and SP on behalf of this ‘Mahamandal’.
  7. Accordingly, on 25th August, a petition was submitted in the presence of office bearers of various festival committees wherein it has been mentioned that the festival committees are made to seek permission from different authorities which is mandatory and office bearers have to spend lot of time and energy for the same; therefore, like other cities, here too, ‘one-window’ system should be followed for obtaining all types of permissions.
  8. Cases of teasing women during processions taken out during the festival should be stopped, repairing of roads should be undertaken on which idols are carried and street lights should be on during the festival or load-shedding should not be allowed. Timing to see decorations made by different committees should be extended from 10.00 p.m. till 12.00 midnight and donation of idols should be stopped as it is against ‘Dharmashastra’.
  9. Erecting artificial water tanks; using garbage vans to carry idols, offered flowers etc. is against ‘Dharmashastra’ and hurts religious sentiments of devotees; so such things should be avoided; implementation of promises given based on suggestions by ‘Peace Committees’ is also necessary.
  10. Dr. Narendra Patil, Dr. Satish Bagul of HJS, office bearers of various festival committees viz. Shri. Subodh Sonar – ‘Maanacha Ganapati’, Shri. Mahendra Patil – ‘Shaktisagar Mandal’, Shri. Sanil Marathe – ‘Maharashtra Vyayam Shala’, Shri. Vishwanath Marathe – ‘Jai Bajarang Vyayam Shala’, Shri. Ravindra Patil –‘Kunabi Patil Mandal’, Shri. Kunal Pawar – ‘Jai Ambe Mitra Mandal’ and Shri. Baban Padavi ‘Adivasi Vyayam Shala’ etc. were present for submission of the representation.
