Lucknow: Accusing Congress of trying to pit "Hindu terrorism" against "Islamic terrorism", the BJP on Tuesday warned rpt warned such a move would push the country to brink of a civil war.
Addressing a traders’ rally here, BJP president Rajnath Singh alleged that "to divert the attention of people from its failure to tackle terror, Congress is coining terms like ‘Muslim terrorism’ and ‘Hindu terrorism’ and added "please do not push the country to the brink of a civil war."
He said BJP has never associated terrorism with any caste, creed or community and reiterated that terror should not be linked to any particular religion.
Later addressing a press conference, Singh asked the UPA government whether it wanted to pit "Hindu terrorism" against "Islamic terrorism" in order to serve its political interests.
"It is most unfortunate that neither Congress nor any of the so-called secular parties have condemned forces who have coined the term Hindu terrorism and I want to ask whether this government is out to pit Hindu terrorism against Islamic terrorism to serve their political interests", Singh said.
"BJP has never communalised terrorism as it believed it should not be attached to any caste or religion," Singh said adding the mentality of some politicians has been communalised for vote bank politics.
