Memorandum to PMC Commissioner : Demand to immerse Ganesh idols in flowing water

Pune : Shri Ganesh idols should be immersed in natural water bodies or in flowing water of river as prescribed in ‘Dharmashastra’. Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) should not undertake drives like donation of idols or immersion in water tanks which are against ‘Dharmashastra’, was the demand made through a petition submitted to Kunal Kumar, the Commissioner of PMC by a delegation of devout Hindus comprising of Shri. Niranjan Date of Sanatan Sanstha, Shri. Krushna Patil, Kum. Kranti Petkar and Shri. Deepak Agawane of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti. Shri. Kumar was explained about the futility of water tanks built for immersion, with proofs obtained under RTI. Shri. Kumar promised to consider the demands.
