Nasik (Maharashtra) : It has been observed that ‘Ganesh murti daan (donation of Ganesh idol)’ drive is being undertaken by few organizations, schools and college students under the name of pollution.

Traditional way of immersion of idols is opposed equating it with pollution. At many places, devotees are forced to donate idols or to immerse their idols in artificial water tanks erected by spending billions of rupees; thus trampling their faith and religious sentiments.

It has also been noticed that idols taken in donation or immersed in artificial water tanks are later thrown in quarries or elsewhere which is desecration of Shri. Ganesh and it is a crime. Ganesh-devotees should not therefore, fall prey to others’ fake claims and immerse their idols in flowing water instead of donation of idols or immersion in artificial water tanks.

The above appeal has been made by Shri. Sunil Ghanavat, State Convener of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) through a press release. The press conference was attended by H.B.P. Sampatdas Maharaj Dhongade of Warakari Sampradaya, Sanatan’s ‘Pujya’ Nandkumar Jadhav and Sanatan seeker Dr. (Sou.) Shilpa Kothavale.

‘Pu.’ Nandkumar Jadhav said, “There is a reason for immersion of idols in flowing water in Dharma-‘shaastra’. The ‘pavitraka’ of Shri Ganesh absorbed in the idols are carried to even far off places along with the flow of water when the idol is immersed in flowing water; giving benefit to devotees at other places. HJS has been creating awareness on large scale in this context through different media.”

Cases should be filed against officers granting permission for donation-drive ! – Shri. Sunil Ghanavat

During Ganesh festival, students of schools and colleges are asked to join the idol-donation drive in the name of pollution; but while doing so, it is never considered that they are interfering in religious matters of Hindus and trampling religious rights of citizens; therefore, cases should be filed against the Director, Dy. Directors of Education Board, education officers, principals etc. of schools for granting permission for undertaking such drive.
