King Pruthviraj Chauhan took help of Naga–Sadhus for protection of the nation and Naga-sadhus joined his army protecting the country from Muslim invaders.
Hindu soldiers from Aurangzeb’s army joined ‘Sadhus’ and Hindu army could get victory.
Sadhus stay in Himalayas but they are always working for protection of nation and there are many instances in history which show that they had also actually taken part in the war and had protected the nation.
Even today, Naga-Sadhus carry weapons as a symbol of ‘Kshatradharma’ and they take out procession exhibiting the weapons. Hindu Kings offered them ‘Chhatra-chamare’ because Sadhus helped them; they were taken out in processions on elephants, horses and camels with lot of fanfare.
Now, they are ascetics, still they come in processions for holy bath.
