Success of drive undertaken by HJS and Sanatan Sanstha at Chiplun regarding ideal celebration of Ganeshotsav !
Chiplun : District Administration, Chiplun Town Council and so-called environmentalists who become active only during Hindus’ festivals were claiming that ‘nirmalya’ causes pollution of water and appealing people to collect ‘nirmalya’ in the pots kept at the immersion sites; but devotees immersed ‘nirmalya’ in flowing water disregarding their appeal. Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) and Sanatan Sanstha undertook a drive for immersion of Ganesh idols and ‘nirmalya’ in flowing water in Vasishthi River or at Naik Company and material which is not good for ecology like thermacoal, plastic etc. to be collected in the pots. Devotees gave good response to the appeal and immersed even ‘nirmalya’ in flowing water. It was published in few local newspapers that ANiS was to undertake a drive for collection of ‘nirmalya’ instead of its immersion; however, as per the science, ‘nirmalya’ also has ‘pavitraka’ of the Deity and its immersion in flowing water benefits more number of people. This explanation was taken note of by Shiv Sena, HJS and Sanatan Sanstha and representation on the subject was submitted to Mayor, Tehsildar and Police Inspector for allowing devotees to immerse Shri. Ganesh idols and ‘nirmalya’ in flowing water. HJS activists and Sanatan seekers were standing at the immersion sites; holding boards in hand about immersion and importance of Ganesh idol and importance of ‘nirmalya’ was explained to devotees over megaphones. Pamplates were also distributed on the subject amongst the devotees.
