Panaji (Goa): Hindu Gods are denigrated by an advertisement by ‘Cox & Kings’, a Travel company, in ‘Dainik Gomantak’ a Marathi daily and By ‘Gomantak Times’ a English daily .
An advertisement in ‘Dainik Gomantak’ of 31st December on pg. 3 contains a picture of (from left) Lord Saraswati and Lord Laxmi seating together and Lord Ganapati is missing at the seat next to Lord Laxmi. And on that seat a boy is seating just like a lord Ganapati eating wafers. And a the bottom there is one more picture having a nude statue. Both this pictures are of quarter page size.

‘Gomantak times’ of 31st December on pg. 3 contains a picture of Lord Rama and Sita. And Lord Hanuman wearing half paint, T-shirt and cap is seating at the feet of Lord Rama taking pictures of Lord Rama and Lord Sita with a camera in a hand.

Both this advertisements hurted sentiments of Hindus across the state. Devout Hindus from Mapusa, Pednem, Panaji, Ponda, Cuncolim had filed a police complaint against the newspapers and the advertiser. Newspaper was burnt to ashes at Ponda, Cuncolim and Panaji.

Many Hindus have warned Editors of ‘Gomantak’ to boycott their publications, if they do not apologise to Hindus. Some angry Hindus vandalised office of ‘Cos & Kings’ in Goa. As a result of this, Editor of ‘Gomantak’ publications published apology to Hindus on next day & ‘Cox & Kings’ also apologised Hindus on next day through ‘ Daily Gomantak’.
