Panaji (Goa): A ‘Temple Protection Act’ be made to permanently curb the deplorable series of idol desecration incidents in Goa, laws should be enacted to stop the denigration of Hindu deities, an ‘Anti-Conversion Act’ should be made; resolutions such as these and many others were passed unanimously in the presence of thousands of Hindus today at the Sports Authority Ground, Campal, Panaji.
Terrorists are creating havoc across the nation by conducting blasts; whereas an evil in the form of idol desecration and denigration of deities is prevalent in Goa. No action is being initiated on those guilty of idol desecration due to vote bank politics. The minority is appeased for political benefit all over the nation; the majority Hindu community is ignored always. In order to change this situation, the ‘Devasthan Saurakshan Mahasammelan’was organised with an aim of displaying the united strength of Hindus. The organisers of the Mahasammelan said that a huge crowd of more than 35000 Hindus were present for the same.
The Mahasammelan commenced with lighting of the auspicious lamp (deep), amidst recitation of Vedic mantras by Vedic students (batus) from Tapobhoomi, Kundaim and blowing of the conch, by saints viz. H.H. Jagadguru Madhvacharya Sree Vishweshteerth Swami Maharaj, Pejawar Mathadish, Udupi; H.H. Jagadguru Sree Shankaracharya Vidyanrusiha Bharati, Karveer Pithadish, Kolhapur, Maharashtra; H.H. Acharya Dharmendraji Swami Maharaj, Panchkhand Pithadish, Jaipur, Rajasthan; H.H. Bramheshanandacharya Swami, Parampujya Padmanabh Shishya Sampradaya (Goa) Tapobhoomi, Kundaim Pithadish; H.H. Sadguru Sree Mukundraj Maharaj; Pujya Kedarji Chaitanya and other dignitaries viz. Shri. Sharadraoji Dhole, Shri. Ashokrao Chowgule and Shri. Madhukar Dikshit. At this time, representatives of different organisations viz. Sree Sampraday, Gayatri Pariwar, Sanatan Sanstha, H.H. Kalavati Aai Sampraday, Siddharudha Sampraday, Patanjali Yogasutra, Padmanabh Sampraday, VHP, Chinmaya Mission, Hindu Janajagruti Samiti, RSS, etc.
At this time, while addressing the audience, Shri. Sharadrao Dhole, Kshetriya DharmajagaranPramukh said that the government has indulged in enough of minority appeasement techniques; now is the time to pay attention to the majority too! H.H. Vishweshteerth Swami, Pejawar Pithadish, Udupi said that uniting Hindus was inevitable for protection of temples. H.H. Bramheshanand Swami said that, Temples are our lifeline. H.H. Acharya Dharmendraji said that idol desecrators should be boycotted socially and financially. H.H. Jagadguru Sree Shankaracharya Vidyanrusiha Bharati appealed that 100 % Hindus should vote to bring in a righteous rule.
The following resolutions were unanimously passed at the Mahasammelan :
- A ‘Temple Protection Act’ is made to permanently curb the deplorable series of idol desecration incidents in Goa and the guilty are traced and punished.
- Punish advertisers and actors who denigrate Hindus deities; else the government will have to face the fury of Hindus. Enact laws to curb denigration.
- Enact a law to stop slaughter of cows completely.
- Stop the aid being given for ‘Haj’ pilgrimage.
- Re-instate the transferred police officers in the Vasco Madarasa case.
- Enact an ‘Anti-conversion Act’.
- Take strict action against Convent schools that were kept closed on 29th August 2008 and all schools kept closed on the Goa Liberation Day.
- Accord the national anthem status to ‘Vande Mataram’ and make it mandatory to all schools.
- Hang terrorist ‘Mohd. Afzal’ immediately.
The following oaths were taken at the Mahasammelan :
1. We shall not sell our votes.
2. We shall not accept financial aid given for temples with a political motive.
3. We shall only vote for those candidates who work for the interest of the Hindu community.

Panaji(Goa): The Akhil Goa Mandir Suraksha Samiti (AGMSS), a state-level organisation actively instrumental in creating awareness to curb the desecration of Hindu temples and deities in Goa, has organised a mass gathering titled ‘Devasthan Saurakshan Maha-sammelan’ for protection and strengthening of the Nation, Dharma and culture. The objective of this mass gathering is to unite the Hindu community on a very large scale and display its strength to protest against the ever-rising series of idol desecration incidents in Goa.
The mass gathering shall be conducted at the Sports Authority of Goa ground, at Campal, Panaji on Saturday, 10th January 2009 at 4 pm. Revered Dharmacharyas such as Karveer Pithadhish H.H. Sree Jagadguru Shankaracharya Vidyanrusiha Bharati Swami; Pejawar, Udupi Mathadish H.H. Sree Vishweshteertha Swami; Jaipur Panchapithadish Rajasthan’s H.H. Sree Acharya Dharmendraji Maharaj and Sreekshetra Tapobhoomi, Kundaim’s H.H. Sree Bramheshanandacharya Swami shall be present at the mass gathering and grace the audience with their guidance.
Likewise Rev. Shri. Khemchandra ji Sharma, VHP’s All India Muth-Mandir Chief and Shri. Sharadrao Dhole, Kshetriya Dharmajagaran Chief shall also be present at the mass gathering. The AGMSS appeals to all Hindus to participate in this mass gathering and make it a historical event.
