Splurging millions of rupees on crackers is against interests of nation : HJS

Demand to impose ban on manufacture of crackers which has no base of Dharma

Malwan Tehsildar Smt. Vanita Patil accepting representation from Sou. Sheeladevi Gawade and others

Malwan (Sindhu-durga) : Bursting crackers is a custom followed in other countries and it has no scientific base as per Hindu Dharma. Bursting of crackers also causes air and noise pollution on large scale; endangering people’s health and environment. During Diwali, crackers of about Rs. 4000 crores are burst in India whereas it is even more if its sale for the whole year is taken into account. Our country is facing financial crisis; billions of people don’t get even one square meal during the day, so splurging so much money on crackers is against interests of the nation. Instead, if this money is used for welfare of nation, it can help in solving many problems. The Government should therefore, impose total ban on polluting crackers. The above demand has been made by Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) through a representation that was submitted to Smt. Vanita Patil, Tehsildar of Malwan in the presence of Shri. Ratnakar Kolambkar, Shri. Shivaji Desai, Shri. Suhas Dudhwadkar, HJS activists viz. Shri. Lakshman Kurle, Shri. Dinanath Gawade, Shri. Veerendranath Naik and Sanatan Sanstha’s Sou. Sheeladevi Gawade etc. Smt. Vanita Patil said, “Your mission is good. It is wrong to burst crackers. I will have a meeting with traders and try to explain the subject to them.”

Sanatan Sanstha’s seeker, Sou. Sheeladevi Gawade (age-75 yrs) had also gone to submit the representation. Smt. Patil said to her that Sou. Gawade, who was working even at such age, was an ideal for others.
