"Protest against the Tax Free Status to the dirty film ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ in India."
To: Chief Minister, Government of Delhi, New Delhi, India. Chief Minister, Government of Haryana, Chandigarh, India. Chief Minister, Governmemt of Maharashtra, Mumbai, India. National Human Right Commision (NHRC), New Delhi, India.
With this petition it is urged to all the above state Governments in India to immediately withdraw the tax free status to the film Slumdog Millionaire. It is also urged to the NHRC to look into the film and ban it for denigratingthe Dalits and Indians in general. There are following arguments against this film.
- The word ‘slumdog’ is derogatory. It is made from the world underdog (meaning Dalit) and slum (dirty colony), both are derogatory. It should be reminded that the words like Harijans which are well meant have been termed as derogatory. Slumdog can not be a respectable word just because it is in English.
- The film exploits India’s slums, poverty and dirt to its fullest. What is happening that most Indians instead of lowering their heads with shame are feeling proud of the garbage and poverty. This will further encourage slum and and garbage.
- The film is showing Indians as not only poor and dirty but cruel, eye plucker, forcing prostitution and communal. This will permanently leave a bad mark about Indians in the foreign countries.
- The film is extremely dirty. It shows a human being totally covered with shit. It is reminded that carrying Garbage on head is banned in India long back.
- The film is highly depressing. It is actually flopped in India. Only perverted minds can enjoy such films. Giving tax free status to this film will encourage the perversion of Indian minds as well.
- It is a British film. The Garbage seems to be from India which is collected by the director Danny Boyle. The Oscar awards are given to English and Hollywood films. It is not nominated as a foreign film category there. Thus there is no reason why Indians should go all out to become proud of it.
- What is recognized at Oscars is not the Indian talent but Indian Poverty and Garbage. This is not an award but an insult to India. The western world has got a new synonymous of the word Indian. It is feared that Indians will be known asslumdogs in the western world.
- Only positive aspect is that Indian music is recognized. But, the music of A. R. Rahman in this film is not original. The singers Illa Arun and Alka Yagnik in TV Channel Time Now have accepted that the song ‘Renga Renga’ is copied from ‘Choli Ke Pichhe kya hai’ from the movie Khalnayak. The lyrics of the songs are actually poor quality. It only shows that the Oscar committee does not understand the lyrics.
- The main stream English press in India has showered praises for this film and brutally curtailed the other view about the film. The greatest example is Amitabh Bachchan’s blog. The whole Indian English media trained their guns on the superstar. Indian media is terrorizing any person with reasonable thinking to express his views against this film. Thus the impression that ‘film is very good’ does not reflect the truth.
- The film is racist. It satisfies the western thirst of supremacy and urge of flop Indian actors like Anil Kapoor to get western recognition be it come through shit and insult to the motherland.
- The film is declared adult by Censor Board of India. It is rare that an adult movie is declared as Tax Free in India.
- The film denigrates Lord Rama which is a clear attack on Indian ethos. It says that Lord Rama carries bow in right hand. The correct answer is left hand. A mini Rama is shown in the film whose facial expressions are horrible and is there to kill innocent people. This mini Rama is giving blessing with left hand. It is highly objectionable. Hindus do all auspicious things with right hand.
- The film is communal and demonizes Hindus. It is showing that Hindus are killing Muslims for no reasons. In fact the Hindus are the most tolerant society. Imagine if the film showed Prophet Mohammad or Jesus Christ in the same way as they showed Lord Rama. But Hindus are still hugging Danny Boyle.
In short the film is dirty, perverted, racist and creates an extremely bad image of India, brands them as slumdog and denigrates Hindu God. Giving Tax free status to this film amounts to accepting the insult and slumdog status to India. This film is a cruel joke on India and Every Indian having some spine should stand against it and register a protest with every possible means. This film in fact should be banned instead of being made tax free.
Sincerely,
Regards,
