Vallabhgad (Haryana) : Incidents of attacks on ‘Gou-rakshaks (activists protecting cows)’ have increased all over the country. In many States, law has been passed banning cow-slaughter but no protection has been provided to those working for saving cows and they are under constant threat from cow-traffickers. ‘Gou-rakshaks’ should therefore, be provided protection by the Government and they should be granted permission to hold weapons in self-defence. The above demands were made through demonstrations held under aegis of ‘Rashtriya Hindu Andolan’ at Vallabhgad (Haryana) by pro-Hindu organizations. They openly condemned attacks on ‘Gou-rakshaks’.
The demonstrations were staged at City Park. Representatives of ‘Nandigram Gou-shala’, ‘Gouraksha Manav Samiti’, ‘Vedic Upasana Peetha’, Sanatan Sanstha and Hindu Janajagruti Samiti had joined the demonstrations. Representation was submitted to Dy. Regional Magistrate, Mahaveer Prasad by Sou. Saroj Gupta, Smt. Kusum Kulshreshtha and Sou. Usha Rakheja of HJS after the demonstrations. Along with the representation regarding ‘Gou-rakshaks’, another representation was also submitted to Shri. Prasad on celebration of new year, on the night of 31st December; demanding ban on bursting of crackers late in the night of 31st December; chaos created due to parties thrown on the occasion and crackers creating noise pollution; besides accidents taking place due to driving of vehicles under influence of liquor etc.
