Hyderabad :  Goshamahal MLA Shri. T. Raja Singh, Hindu Janajagruti Samiti and other Hindu Organisations submitted a memorandum to Smt. Ranjeev R Acharya, Vice chancellor (I/c) of Osmania University demanding to cancel the beef festival at Osmania University and take action against the organisers.

During the meet with the Vice chancellor at Secretariat office at Hyderabad, MLA Shri. Raja Singh demanded that consuming and serving beef at college campus hurts religious feelings of Hindu community and this is also against the college tradition. Educational institutes are like temples and students should maintain the sanctity of the place of learning. But some miscreants have joined with anti-social elements and these are intentionally conducting beef festival to hurt religious feelings of Hindus. In 2012 beef festivals led to violence and clashes where the students were attacked with stones and sticks, many students were injured, hospitalized and even the college property was severely damaged, many RTC buses were burnt.

Shri. T. Raja Singh also demanded that if the authority allows beef festival in Osmania university, then they also should allow Gow Mata Pooja in Osmania Campus.

Addressing media Shri. Chethan Janardhan of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti told that Gow mata is not only sacred to Hindus but also it is economically, medically and environmentally very useful. Cow milk contains Proteins, Carbohydrates, Vitamin D, minerals essential to human health while also increasing the immunity power in human body. He requested all Hindus to join the movement to stop beef festival.
