Bangladesh (Kurigram Dist) : Deity idols demolished in temple attack

Unidentified perpetrators entered unlawfully into the Kali Temple at night on 23rd December,15. They demolished three deities i.e. Kali Murthi, Lakshi Murthi and Shiva Murthi , heads of those Murthies were separated from their body. The local administration consisting Mr. Shankar Kumar Biswas- Upazila Nirbahi Officer-Raumari Upazila and Mr. A.B.M. Sajedul Islam Officer in Charge of Raumari Police station along with Shri Prodip Kumar- President of Puja Uzzapan Committee visited the spot. Police only recorded a general diary instead of lodging F.I.R. at the respective police station.

It is also reported that the local Minority Hindus were in great anxiety and they are passing their days with fear.

This unfortunate incident of desecration of Hindu deities took place within the Hindu Nomo Das Para of the said Upazila of Kurigram District. No person was reported to have been arrested because no case was lodged by the Minority victims.Shri. Ravindra Ghosh , on behalf of Bangladesh Minority Watch (BDMW) communicated with ABM Sajedul Islam – O.C. of Raumari Police station  he said no victim came forward for lodging any F.I.R. but he also said police made a general diary on this incident. Shri. Ghosh also talked with Shankar Kumar Biwwas-Upazila Nirbahi Officer of Raumari Upazila who said no complainant came forward for lodging any F.I.R. for the crime. Shri. Ghosh requested the officer in charge and Upazila Nirbahi officer to take cognizance of crime since the devotees were frightened.

Bangladesh Minority Watch is very much concerned about repeated incidents of crime against religion and we demand immediate arrest of perpetrators responsible for this offense. BDMW also demand the authority to create an unhindered atmosphere in the Hindu locality for their existence rendering protection of life and restoration of  deities.
