Mumbai: Shivsena chief Shri. Balasaheb Thackeray said, “I took up Hinduism to unite all Hindus when our nation was threatened by Islam. States like Maharashtra, Gujarat and West Bengal would not, individually, be able to stand against the ever increasing threat of the Islam. Only when the Hindus unite, will they be able to fight against Islam. Hence I take it as my duty to spread Hinduism” in third part of his interview, given to daily newspaper “Saamna”.
He further went on to say that, “The states were unfortunately formed on the basis of language and so the assets were divided accordingly; but the division of property gave rise to conflicts. The Congress leaders are supporting Rahul Gandhi as the future prime minister but our country cannot afford his ‘Gandhigiri’. But I would like to openly support Shri. Varun Gandhi.”
“Betrayal and scandals have become the very nature of our democracy but not modesty or aggravation. Everything is done for one’s own selfish needs and convenience. Nobody is bothered about the country. One does whatever one pleases. Undeserving people have been given more than necessary rights and facilities which they are using for their selfish gains,” criticised Thackeray. He said further, “It was the duty of Shivaraj Patil as the then Home Minister to execute Afzal; but he shirked from his duty. We don’t know whether it was under pressure from Sonia Gandhi or other reasons behind the same. In fact, it is not necessary to ask anyone for his execution.”
He said, “Maharashtra should never project as a weak State. There is now nobody who can create a new history. All have become ‘yes-men’ and go to Delhi to prove their loyalty. Nobody is capable even to utter the name of Shivaraya. Maharashtra should always remain a powerful State. The MPs elected from Maharashtra should make themselves heard by everyone in Delhi and Parliament. There is no point in just getting elected without striving to present the issues like cattle sheep. Shiv Sena MPs should also be able to draw everyone’s attention.”
