Pune (Maharashtra): Shri. Navalgundkar, a scholar in the literature by Swatantryaveer Savarkar said that the country is caught in the grip of terrorism because it has overlooked Savarkar. The aggressive policies adopted by Savarkar will only help to come out of the situation. On the occasion of 125th birth anniversary of Swatantryaveer Savarkar, many organizations that are followers of Savarkar, have arranged various programs through out the year. A meeting of all such organisations was called at Maharashtra Sahitya Parishada yesterday.
Savarkar had jumped out of a ship to save himself from British repression at Marseilles port and in July 2010, it would complete 100 years since then. A demand was made to erect Savarkar’s memorial at that place.
The meeting was attended by Shri. Suresh Barve and Shri. Abhijit Patil from Mumbai, Shri. Suryakant Pathak, S. N. Navalgundkar, Jitendra Ranade, Deshpande and representative of HJS, Shri. Bagavade. It was decided to make, people all over the country, aware about the sacrifice and fight for freedom by Savarkar.
Besides, there are plans to go to Marseilles on 8th July 2010 and hold a program in remembrance of the historic incident, to put up a board at Devalali station indicating the birthplace of Sawarkar, a literary meet of revolutionaries at Andman in February 2010, publishing of a booklet on Savarkar in various languages etc.
