Hindus demand to remove ‘Cross’ from new coins

Pune (Maharashtra): Indian government had brought Rs. 10 coins having ‘Cross symbol’ on them for circulation due to which feelings of Hindus and others are hurt; hence they should be removed immediately, is a demand made by Hindutvawadi organizations in Pune. A

A Delegation has submitted a representation to the Collector of Pune District and Election Officer complaining about the same. A complaint made to the Election Officer stating that Smt. Soniya Gandhi was instrumental in doing so to satisfy the Christian voters at the time of elections and it had broken the code of conduct too.

The delegation included dignitaries like President of All Hindu Front, Shri. Milind Ekbote, Ex. Director of ‘Sakal’, Shri. Chadrashekhar Joshi, Shri. Subhash Deshpande etc. The new Rs. 10 coins have ‘Ashoka symbol and number 10 on one side and on the other there is a ‘Cross’ with two lines. Hindutvawadis have objected to it saying that Bharat being a secular country any coin to have any symbol representing any particular religion is wrong. Feelings of Hindus, Muslims, Jain, Sikh., Bouddha and others are hurt thereby; hence they should be removed immediately from circulation.
