When the case of killing of two policemen in Bhiwandi is still fresh in people’s mind, at Chele village under the jurisdiction of Padaghe police station close to Bhiwandi, there was a dispute between communists and members of BJP on the post of ‘Sarpanch’. In the communists attack, 4 policemen, including one lady police, got injured.
In the recently held Grampanchayat elections, 4 candidates of BJP and 3 candidates of Communist Party were elected. The Communists have alleged that on the eve of the election, BJP managed to turn one of their candidates against them whereas BJP demanded police protection claiming that their lives were in danger. Accordingly, the BJP candidates were taken under police protection when 400 workers of Communist Party attacked the police and their vehicles. In this attack, 4 policemen, including senior police inspector Shri. Gaikwad were injured. Police had to fire in the air to disperse and calm down the crowd.
