Mumbai: It has been brought to the notice that the idols in abandoned Shiva-Parvati Temple adjacent to Budhhist caves at Sanjay Gandhi Udyan in Borivali have been damaged by some anti-Hindu elements. Earlier, the temple was occupied by Kharadeshwar Maharaj who had an ashram there. The Forest Department has, however, certified the temple as unauthorized on the basis of encroachment (Anti-law Forest Department claims authorized temple as encroachment. Would the Department dare to treat a durgah or a mosque in the same manner? – Editor)

Maharaj had to therefore, leave the temple. It has been now noticed that some anti-Hindu elements have broken the upper part, from waist to head, of Shiva-Parvati idols. There is only the below, leg portion, of the idols remaining in the sanctum sanctorum, besides, the ‘shiva-lingam’ has also been uprooted.

In another temple too, the idol has been damaged except the portion of legs. (In Mughal regime, temples and idols worshipped by Hindus used to be damaged and destroyed in the same manner; but now, even after independence, Hindus places of worship are not safe. Hindus must overthrow Congress Government responsible for such condition! – Editor)
