Outcome of efforts made by HJS, Sanatan Sanstha and devout Hindus

Mumbai: A delegation of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) had requested the organizers of an exhibition held at ‘Elysium Mansion’ in Colaba to remove art-work of anti-Hindu painter M. F. Hussain. They explained to Shri. Dilip Jhangiani, the organizer of the exhibition anti-Hindu and anti-national attitude of Husain. Even then, Jhangiani refused to remove Husain’s paintings. (Will Jhangiani show the same courage to Muslims, had they complained of their religious sentiments getting hurt? – Editor)

Mumbai edition of ‘Dainik Sanatan Prabhat’ first published a news about this attack on Dharma. Later, many devout Hindus registered their protest by calling up the organizers. Husain’s paintings have now been removed from display and security has been increased at the exhibition. One has to go through security check before entering the venue.

Shri. Shivaji Vatkar, the coordinator of HJS for Mumbai, Thane and Raigad districts again had discussions with Shri. Jhangiani. He informed Shri. Vatkar that he was receiving calls, since morning, asking him to remove the paintings but the controversial paintings by Hussain were not displayed in the exhibition. Shri. Vatkar told him that it was an indication of people’s strong feelings against Hussain’s paintings. Even though the controversial paintings were not put up in the exhibition, HJS was opposed to Hussain’s paintings. He also informed Shri. Jhangiani that an organization called ‘Khushi’ had removed Husain’s paintings displayed in its exhibition that were worth Rs. 6 crores. These paintings were also subsequently removed.
