Women should fight back against injustice – Sou. Hemashri Gadekar
Ponda (Goa): ‘Women often tolerate injustice in their life and keep quiet, thus they have become the weaker sex. It is the need of the hour that women fight against then injustice being inflicted on them’, said Mrs. Hemashri Gadekar, office bearer of the Self help group of Mapusa. The Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) had organized a program ‘Hindu women, become brave not weak!’ to commemorate the martyrdom of the Queen of Jhansi, Rani Laxmibai, at Hotel Padmavi, Ponda on 30th May 2009. Mrs. Gadekar made the above appeal to women during her address at this function..
At this time, Shri. Jayesh Thali of the HJS and Mrs. Shubha Sawant of Sanatan Sanstha were also present on the dais. Mrs. Shubha Sawant gave valuable information about the valour of Rani Laxmibai in her speech. She said that it is need of hour that every woman inculcates values and qualities of the Queen of Jhansi and Goddess Sree Durgadevi to instill courage in them. Every woman should practice Righteousness (Dharma) which in turn will increase their inner strength to fight back people with evil motives.
Shri. Jayesh Thali, in his speech, gave information about the atrocities committed on women at the national and international level. He specified examples such as ‘Love Jihad’, an evil drive by Muslims to convert Hindu women, atrocities towards women in Goa by serial killer Mahanand Naik, etc. It is extremely essential that women become brave and valorious; thus the HJS has undertaken this activity. The HJS will provide self defense training to women to achieve the said objective. In the group discussion held at the end of this program, Mrs. Vibhavari Umarye, office bearer of RashtraSevika Samiti; Mrs. Meena Desai, Mrs. Minal Hasabnis and Kum. Jayashri Gawas expressed their views. Mrs. Rajashree Gadekar compeered this program which was attended by 50 women.
