Effect of HJS drives against anti-History text books and Marathi film GGDM

Mumbai: BJP invoked adjournment under Rule 93 on the issues related to the insignificant reference made to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj by NCERT in History text book and mockery of deities made in the Marathi film ‘Gallit Gondhal Dillit Mujara (GGDM)’. (Congratulations to BJP for invoking adjournment to oppose denigration of our great national hero and deities! – Editor SP)

The Chairman of Legislative Council Shivajirao Deshmukh directed the Government to present details on the issue. Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) has been agitating against both the issues for past few days. The government will now give details in 1-2 days and the matter will be discussed in the House by the Opposition.

The notice of adjournment was given by Opposition leader of Legislative Council and BJP leader Shri. Pandurang Fundkar and S/Shri. Nitin Gadkari, Vinod Tawade, Ashok Mankar, Sanjay Kelkar and Ramnath Mote. It has been mentioned in the proposal that in NCERT’s History text book for 7th standard containing 156 pages, most of the pages are utilized for praising Mughal Rulers who attacked our country whereas life history of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj has been given only in 6 lines. In the text book for 10th standard, national leaders like Gandhi, Lokmanya Tilak etc. have been insulted. Such controversial books have been withdrawn by Goa State Government. Similarly, Maharashtra Government too should ban this book. In a Marathi film GGDM, there are dialogues making mockery of Hindu deities creating rage in the minds of thousands of Hindus all over the State as these are the issues involving public concern.
