Demand for ban on books denigrating Saints and National Leaders
Phaltan (Maharashtra): A memorandum was submitted by Hindutvavadis to the Collector of Phaltan demanding a ban on books written by M.M. Deshmukh, Shrimant Kokate, Purushottam Khedekar which denigrated Saints and National Leaders. The portion in the 4th std. history text-books referring Dadoji Kondadev as Shivaji Maharaj’s Guru in the art of warfare was deleted this year. The memorandum also demanded reprinting of that portion along with a sketch of Dadoji Kondadev.
It is very dangerous to circulate these books vilifying Saints who are revered all over Maharashtra; so the Government should ban such literature immediately. They also demanded that, Shivshahir Babasaheb Purandare should be consulted regarding the monument of Shivaji Maharaj (Shivsmarak), paying no heed to any pressure from anybody.

Popatrao Barge of Pratapgad Utsav Samiti, Shri. Sachin Bhagat of Raja Chhatrapati Yuva Sangh (Shindewadi), Shri. Ashish Kapse of Hindu Janjagruti Samiti, Shri. Ajay Shinde of Navdurg Ganesh and Shivjayanti Mandal. Shri. Surendra Gadre and Shri. Satish Dalvi of V.H.P., Sou. Rajmala Bedke of Panipat Smaran Sabha, Shri. Dnyaneshwar Chavan of Shivsamarth Gorakshan Dal and Dr. Tripute of B.J.P. were present while presenting the memorandum to the Collector of Phaltan.
