M. F. Hussain matter : Police are trying to seek Government’s permission for action

Mumbai : On 24th July, the Mumbai High Court directed the police dept. to initiate legal action against M. F. Hussain for hurting feelings of Hindus for paintings wherein he has shown the Hindu deities and Bharatmata in nude. Thereafter, a case under the Section 295 of IPC was immediately filed by the police against Hussain.

Shri. Ramesh Mahale, the investigating officer and Inspector of Crime Detection Branch informed that police are trying to collect evidence against Hussain and will be seeking Government’s permission for taking action. Shri. Mahale disclosed the above information when members of the Hindu
Jana-jagruti Samiti call on him. He said that for fliling a chargesheet against Hussain, Govt.’s permission is necessary. Police are therefore, in the process of collecting all the evidence against Hussain.
