Goddess Lakshmi’s idol denigrated at Malegaon

Satara : The idol of Goddess Lakshmi in the Sri Lakshmidevi temple in the area occupied by Matang and Bauddha community has been denigrated. Bhiku Janardan Ughade (age 22 yrs; resident of Malegaon) has been arrested in this connection. The police sources informed that although peaceful, there is tension in the area.

In the evening around 6.00 p.m., the accused, Bhiku Ughade broke open the door of Sri Lakshmi temple situated in the Matang and Bauddha locality in Malegaon and damaged and desecrated the idol of Sri Lakshmi. A complaint was lodged in the police station by Shri. Tanaji Tukaram Shinde in this regard. The police have arrested Ughade, the accused under Sect. 295 of IPC for hurting religious feelings of people. Shri. Nanasaheb Panhalkar,Police Inspector is carrying out further investigations in the matter.
