Indore : A resident of Dhar on Saturday filed a petition before Indore bench of Madhya Pradesh high court challenging Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) order allowing Hindus and Muslims to offer prayers at Bhojshala complex simultaneously on Basant Panchmi on February 12. The ASI in its order had allowed Hindus to offer prayers from sunrise to 12.30 noon and Muslims from 1 pm to 3 pm and thereafter allowing Hindus to continue their prayers.
Seeking stay on the order, petitioner Arun Singh Rathore has filed PIL in the court. Counsel of petitioner, Manish Yadav said, “Earlier in 2006 and 2013, holding prayers at the location had led to untoward incidents. Petitioner had challenged the ASI order seeking stay on the order. Muslims can offer prayer at Kalam Maulana Mosque which is near to Bhojshala premises so that Hindus can continue their prayers without any disruption.”
The petition is scheduled for hearing before the double bench of Indore high court comprising Justice P K Jaiswal and Justice Alok Verma. Meanwhile, a delegation of Dhar district court on Saturday visited Bhojshala premises to carry out inspection, which lasted for half-an-hour.
