Modi announces Saraswati Yatra, Gunotsav on Teachers day

Ahmedabad (Gujrat): Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi felicitated 35 teachers from across the state and addressed over one crore students of various schools through video conferencing on Teachers’ Day morning. Modi announced state government’s initiatives such as Sarswati Yatra for literacy, 100-hour contribution movement for youths, and ‘Gunotsav’ in schools on 11-12-13 November this year.

Chief Minister interacted with the students for more than hour. Students from remote village schools asked questions to the Chief Minister.

Teachers were honored for their outstanding contribution to the field of education. Each of them was given a cash reward of Rs 21,000 and a certificate by the Chief Minister in a felicitation function held at Tagor hall in Ahmedabad. Some teachers contributed their entire cash reward to Chief Minister’s girls education fund.

Chief Minister’s speech was broadcast live in 7,600 primary schools and 4,391 secondary schools which have computers with LCD screens, 410 colleges and 90 self-financed institutes and 62 government polytechnics.

Modi’s address was also broadcast live on 8000 e-gram panchayats and local cable services
