Donation of Ganesh idols : Police to take strict action against ‘ABFC’

Solapur : Shri. Suresh Pawar, the Dy. Commissioner of Police promised that strict action would be taken against members of Anti-Blind Faith Committee ‘ABFC’ in case they compel people to donate Sri Ganesh idols. A ‘Peace ‘ committee’ meeting was held at Jail Road police Station of the Centarl Ganesh Mandal (East) in Solapur. The meetimg was attended by elected representatives of people, police officers, members of the Peace Committee, committee members of the Central Ganesh Mandal (CGM) and its workers.

The President of the CGM said that this year, unnecessary expenses would be
avoided and the money would be donated to people affected by floods. He further said that members of ABFC would not be allowed to come anywhere near the immersion area if they insist on donation of Ganesh idols.

The drive undertaken by ABFC against immersion of idols is in fact, contrary to the science. Commissioner of Police appealed to the people that with changing times, our ‘sanskars’ should not change. The sanctity of the festival should be maintained and all the Ganesh Committees should try to celebrate the festival in an ideal manner.

Seventeen organizations, Hindu organizations and political parties have come together to form Solapur ‘Adarsh (Ideal) Ganeshotsava (Ganesh festival) Samiti (Committee)’ to prevent illegal activites during celebration of this festival, create awareness among members of other Ganesh festival committees towards their nation and religion and unite Hindus.
