Success of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti
Pena: At the ‘State Road Transport Corporation’s bus-stand, there was a board displaying an advertisement of ‘Society Tea’ denigrating Lord Ganesha. The members of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) discussed the issue with the zonal officials of the Corporation after which the board was withdrawn.
At ‘Pena’ bus-stand, there was a board of 25 X 4 ft size displaying an advertisement of ‘Society Tea’. In this advertisement, Lord Ganesha was shown in green colour with the moon on His head. Few members of HJS viz. Mr. Vishnudas Mhatre, Jagannath Jambhale and Arun Bhoir saw this advertisement and made an enquiry about the same with the Traffic Control Section.
It was informed that the advertisement was displayed after obtaining permission from the Zonal Controller, Ramwadi – ‘Pena’. The HJS members, therefore, met the zonal officer, Mr. M. G. Patil and explained to him that such advertisements denigrating Lord Ganesha has hurt the religious sentiments of Hindus. They requested him to withdraw the advertisement. Later, Mr. Patil informed that the advertisement board can be withdrawn only after contacting the Head of their Department at the Mumbai office. As assured by him, within 4 days, Mr. Patil removed the advertisement of ‘Society Tea’ denigrating Sree Ganesha.
