Trupti Desai of Bhumata Brigade detained on way to Trimbakeshwar temple

Nashik : Activist Trupti Desai was on Monday detained by police when she, along with other members of Bhumata Brigade , was marching towards the Trimbakeshwar Temple .

She was detained at a place called Nandur Shingote near Pune-Nashik border in Maharashtra.

“Is this what “achche din” meant? We condemn this action by Police. We’ve been detained for no reason, we were heading to Trimbakeshwar temple in a peaceful manner,” said Desai after her arrest.

She also appealed Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis to interfere in the matter and allow them to enter the Trimbakeshwar Temple.

“Where is the CM? We want him to intervene and allow us entry into Trimbakeshwar temple,” added Desai.

Meanwhile, terming their action as an attempt to ensure law and order situation in the area, police said all the detained women will be released after followed legal process.

“We have detained around 100 women considering law and order situation, they will be released after following due procedure,” said a senior police officer, as per ANI.

After the agitation at Shani Shingnapur Temple, the Bhumata Brigade has now demanded women’s entry into sanctum sanctorum of Trimbakeshwar Temple in Nashik.

Trupti Desai, who made headlines early this year over entry into Shani Shingnapur Temple, was leading the march to Trimbakeshwar Temple in Nashik, where women are prohibited traditionally.
