Issue of letting everyone in temple sanctum of Shanidev by breaking ancient tradition !
Mumbai : Women are allowed to go to Shanidev temple of Shani Shingnapur but they are not allowed to climb temple sanctum which is an age-old religious tradition. From the year 2011, Devasthan trustees imposed ban on men as well as women to climb temple sanctum so as to avoid stampede. The tradition of doing ‘abhishek’ on Shanidev’s idol with ‘Gangajal’ once in every year, while concluding the ‘Kawad’ fair is also very old; unlike the agitation started by Trupti Desai; therefore, it was expected of temple trustees to take a decision of continuing such old tradition followed only once in a year; but it is unfortunate that decision of breaking this tradition has been taken in haste, under intimidation of anti-Hindus like ‘Bhoomata Brigade’ who want to start new anti-Dharma traditions. Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) thus expressed its regret over the decision.
It has been stated in the press release published by Shri. Sunil Ghanavat, Maharashtra State Coordinator of HJS that
1. A petition has been filed with High Court for re-consideration of earlier verdict passed by the Court in this regard and there was no need to take such decision in so much hurry.
2. This incident proves that the Government and Administration have failed in protecting religious traditions followed by Hindus’ temples.
3. The Government should have protected tradition followed at the time of ‘Kawad’ fair; local residents and trustees should have been taken into confidence by the Government for protection of such tradition. Government should have imposed permanent ban on organizations like ‘Bhoomata Brigade’, which are creating law and order problem by staging agitations only for the sake of publicity; however, the Government Administration has failed at all levels and it has been proved through this incident that this Government cannot protect Hindus’ traditions.
Hindu scriptures talk about “karmafal-nyay” that is one reaps as one sows. So it is inevitable that someone who commits adharmik acts like such gross denigration of Shri Shanidev will be responsible for the consequences as Shanidev deems fit. . – Hindu Janajagruti Samiti
