Unanimous decision of Trustees in a meeting
Trimbakeshwar : Advocate Shrikant Gaydhani, a trustee of Trimbakeshwar Temple announced that only men wearing ‘sovale’ would be allowed in the temple sanctum.
1. On 1st April, Mumbai High Court passed a verdict ordering the State Government to see that there would be no discrimination at any religious place.
2. In this background, a meeting of trustees of Shri Trimbakeshwar Temple was first held on 3rd April in which trustees had imposed ban on not only women but also on men on entering sanctum of this temple.
3. On 4th April, local residents and ‘Purohit Mahasangh’ had taken out a march registering strong protest against the above decision.
4. This decision was changed by trustees in a meeting held on 10th April and it was decided unanimously to allow only men in temple sanctum who wear ‘sovale’ and women would not be allowed in temple sanctum.
5. Advocate Gaydhani clarified that a petition will be filed in High Court to get such directive on entry in temple sanctum.
