Women stopped from entering sanctum of Shiva Temple at Trimbakeshwar !

  • Scuffle between devotees and women activists
  • Cases filed against 200 people including former Mayor based on complaints lodged by women activists

So-called women-activists fighting for equality don’t know priorities ! There are grave problems like conversions, love jihad, cow-slaughter, corruption etc. before this country; still women –activists are staging agitations over issues like entry in temple sanctum !

Trimbakeshwar : On 20th April, women activists of an organization called ‘Swarajya Mahila Sanghatana’ tried to once again enter temple sanctum of Shiva Mandir claiming to fight for equality. Timing for going to temple sanctum is one hour, between 6 a.m. and 7 a.m. but the women activists tried to go after 7.00 a.m. These women trying to break all age-old traditions and rules of the temple, showing Court’s verdict, were stopped by devotees and priests present there at that time. On 14th April also, similar attempt was made to enter temple sanctum and a complaint has been lodged by Vanita Gutte of ‘Swarajya Mahila’.

On the basis of these complaints, a case has been filed with Trimbakeshwar police station under clauses 354, 323, 504 of IPC and under clauses 4 (1) (A), (B) and 5 of the Act of 1956 related to entry in Hindus’ public religious places, against 200 people including priests and 4 former mayors. (Police should have filed cases against those women, who have been deliberately hurting religious sentiments of Hindus by breaking their ancient religious traditions. Police are filing cases against devout Hindus without verifying complaints; but why are they sparing women activists who are disturbing peace and harmony of Trimbakeshwar and temple ? – Editor, Dainik Sanatan Prabhat)

1. Trimbakeshwar is one of the 12 ‘Jyotirlingas’ where custom of men going to temple-sanctum in wet traditional cloth after bath is being practised for hundreds of years.

2. Activists of ‘Swarajya Mahila’, however, out of their hunger for publicity, have been trying to break this tradition and enter temple sanctum, under the guise of Court’s verdict.

3. On 20th April, Vanita Gutte and other 4-5 activists of ‘Swarajya Mahila’ stood in the queue for having ‘darshan’ by entering temple sanctum. They started pushing other devotees standing in queue; as they realized that they wouldn’t be able to enter temple sanctum within the stipulated timings.

4. Devotees standing in the queue and priests told them that they would not be able to go to sanctum within the time limit and should have ‘darshan’ from outside. The women activists started intimidating and pushing ahead to enter the sanctum but local devotees opposed them. There was minor scuffle between the activists and other devotees. It is informed that a woman activist felt dizzy during this scuffle. Finally, all women activists were taken out with the help of security guards.

5. Devotees present there had to face unnecessary disturbance owing to women activists and it created additional stress on the administration. There was also confusion outside temple hall.

‘Bandh’ in Trimbakeshwar

Constant harassment by the so-called progressive women through their attempts of entering temple sanctum has led the local residents of Trimbakeshwar to observe ‘Bandh’ on 21st April by way of protest. It was decided by them in a meeting held on 20th April to observe ‘Bandh’.
