Mumbai : Indian Constitution has given equal rights to all citizens. Issue of prohibition on women for going to Haji Ali Durgah would not stand before the Indian Constitution. Doors of Haji Ali Durgah will be opened with the High Court’s decision for women. In 3-4 days, we are meeting Trustees of Haji Ali Durgah after which Durgah Trust will certainly be ready to allow women in Durgah; else, on 28th April, we shall stage agitation in peaceful manner, informed Javed Anand of Muslim Secular Democracy during the press conference held on 20th April at Mumbai Marathi Patrakar Sangh.
The press conference was also attended by ‘Bhoomata Brigade’s Trupti Desai, Firoz Mithiborwala of ‘Bharat Bachao Andolan’, Nasreen Contractor of ‘Mrunal Gore Interactive Centre’, Jyoti Badekar of ‘Waghini Sanghatana’ and Mumbai Sarvodaya Mandal’s Sheikh Husain. Javed Mulia of ‘Akhil Bharatiya Patrakar Sangh’ got up and went to the stage while the press conference was going on and assertively said that women’s entry in mosque is improper as per ‘Shariat’; thus trying to create disturbance in the press conference. It led to huge chaos and the press conference had to be wound up.
Javed Anand said, “Issue of refusing entry to women in Haji Ali durgah is not a religious matter but an issue of following traditions. 16 different secular and progressive organizations have come together and formed an organization called ‘Haji Ali Sab ke Liye’. Recently, a meeting was held and it has been decided to stage demonstrations. After taking up this issue, we shall fight for allowing Muslim women in all mosques.”
Trupti Desai stopped by organizers from talking about Shani Shingnapur and Shri Mahalakshmi Devasthan !
In the press conference held in connection with entry in Haji Ali Durgah, Bhoomata Brigade’s Trupti Desai started talking about Shani Shingnapur temple, Kolhapur’s Shri Mahalakshmi Temple and Trimbakeshwar Mandir on a question asked by one reporter; but Javed Anand interrupted her talk and told her to talk only about entry in Haji Ali Durgah.
Bhoomata Brigade to join the movement for women’s entry in durgah and mosques ! – Trupti Desai
We were accused by few pro-Hindu organizations of targeting only Hindu Dharma; but our fight is not against any religion. We are only against wrong practices followed in Dharma. We shall stage agitation for wrong customs and traditions followed in any religion. After the success of entry in Shani Shingnapur and Kolhapur’s Shri Mahalakshmi Mandir, we shall continue our fight. (Trupti Desai is blowing own trumpets by calling her anti-Dharma act of entering Shanidev’s sanctum at Shani Shingnapur as success when she broke religious traditions ! In fact, local residents and women abstaining from climbing temple sanctum at Shani Shingnapur and following tradition is a big success of devout Hindus; but will Trupti Desai realize it ? – Editor, Dainik Sanatan Prabhat) Women should be allowed to go to durgah and mosques. Constitution has given equal right to all citizens. Till 2011, women were allowed to go to Haji Ali durgah. Later Trustees gave various excuses such as getting possessed, improper acts etc. and stopped women’s entry; which is a wrong stand taken by Haji Ali Durgah Trust and Bhoomata Brigade will join the agitations against this ban.
CM responsible for women activists getting beaten up at Kolhapur ! – Accusation of Trupti Desai
Trupti Desai was asked about beating up of women activists entering temple sanctum of Shri Mahalakshmi Mandir when she said, “Women should be allowed to go wherever men are allowed. I condemn incident of women getting beaten up. Policemen, who were involved in this beating, should be taken into custody. The State Chief Minister is also the State Home Minister; therefore, he is responsible for women getting thrashed.”
