Establishment of Hindu Rashtra has become imperative to stop increasing interference of people in Dharma matters although they are ignorant about ‘Dharma-shastra’
Khandva : Omkareshwar is one of the 12 ‘Jyotirlingas’ and chemical coating is being given to stop its erosion. Such coating has, however, stopped water which used to naturally flow and fill around the ‘linga’ on all sides. Saints have expressed rage over this issue and are planning to raise this matter on religious platform. Out of the 12 ‘Jyotirlingas’, at only 2 places, water fills the area on all sides surrounding ‘linga’; one of which is Omkareshwar and the other is Trimbakeshwar in Maharashtra. The local people say that natural specialty of Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga is no longer found at this holy place.
1. It is the second time that coating is applied over Jyotirlinga to stop erosion and the dispute has once again raised its head.
2. First time this issue was raised was in the year 2004 when such coating was done under regime of the then District Collector D D Agrawal.
3. Saints had staged agitation at that time and a committee was set up to stop coating. Guidance was sought from all 4 Shankaracharyas. Instruction was given to prevent change that could occur in the original form of ‘Jyotirlinga’ and make a crystal-covering if need be. It was to cost about Rs. 30 lakhs; therefore, the Government didn’t broach the subject after taking advice.
4. The Government once again started process for arresting erosion as Simhastha Parva started; but this time, the Government didn’t feel the need to approach Shankaracharyas and seek their opinion. The Government carried out coating on all 4 sides eliminating natural speciality of this ‘Jyotirlinga’; therefore, even priests are feeling very sad about the whole matter.
Government officers don’t properly carry out own duties; then how can they take decision on matters related to Dharma ? – Mahant Mangaldas Maharaj
Mahant Mangaldas Maharaj and other Saints said while expressing their anger that the Government officers were unable to do their duties properly and who gave them the right to take decisions in matters related to Dharma ? Shankaracharya should have been consulted before undertaking such coating. Such coating has stopped natural flow of water and it will be opposed at every level. Only Shankaracharyas have the right to take decisions on issues related to Dharma.
Water of River Narmada naturally flows till Jyotirlinga !
Omkar mountain is considered to be form of Shiva and there is water on all its sides. Similarly, there is water on all 4 sides of even Jyotirlinga. Nobody has so far found out from where the water comes. It is said that water of River Narmada reaches Jyotirlinga in natural way.
