It is necessary to protect cows – Muzaffar Husain

Belgaum (Karnataka): Cow is an identity of the nation. It is like mother to farmers. Many farmers rear cows and eke living. It is, therefore, necessary to protect the cows, stated Mr. Muzaffar Husain, a senior journalist. ‘Vishwamangal Gou-gram Yatra’ procession started from Kurukshetra reached Belgaum on Sunday. A program was organized to welcome the rally at Sardar’s ground which was addressed by Mr. Muzaffar Husain as the chief speaker.

Mr. Husain said, “A proposal was put up by the Central Government 14 years back to ban cow-slaughter; but it is still gathering dust. Finally, the responsibility of implementation was transferred to the State Government and only 13 State Governments have banned cow-slaughter.”

Raghaveshwar Swamiji inaugurating programme by lighting Samai along with other dignitaries

The rally was welcomed by Raghaveshawar Bharati Mahaswami, Chitprakashanand Swamiji and Gurusiddheshwar Swamiji by lighting of lamp followed with the ‘aarti’ of ‘Gou mata’ (Cow) performed by the dignitaries. The program was attended by nearly 2000 Hindus. The program ended with giving of an oath to the attendees that they would treat the cow as mother, they would protect cows and would not allow anyone to denigrate cows.
