FHA protests against Fox News insulting Hindu Holy river Ganges

Glenn Beck insulted Holy Hindu river Ganges in the show ‘The One Thing’ on Fox News Channel. Now Hindus are protesting against it. Forum for Hindu Awakening, USA base organisation has protested against it. Following is the letter sent by Forum for Hindu Awakening to protest against denigration of Ganges river by Fox News –

We came across Glenn Beck’s show ‘The One Thing’ on Fox News (aired on the 9th of December, 2009):

In the show, Glenn Beck has said that the name of the River Ganges sounds like a disease.

The River Ganges (‘Holy Gangaa’ as addressed reverently by Hindus) is held sacred in Hindu Scriptures and by Hindus worldwide. This Holy river’s water (Gangaa-jal), being spiritually pure, is given to the dying Hindu to help him progress towards the divine in the afterlife journey. Even modern scientists have marveled at the ability of this river’s water to remain free of harmful bacteria even in the face of pollution.

We protest Fox News’ insensitivity in including this frivolous, derogatory reference to the Holy river. We urge the FCC to ensure that news networks show greater sensitivity to faith sentiments, such as of the Hindu community, in their programming.
