Mumbai: In the recently released film, titled ‘3 Idiots ’, actor Amir Khan has been shown in the attire of Lord Hanuman. This has resulted in hurting religious sentiments of hundreds of devotees of Lord Hanuman. Personification of Deities and making mockery of them is like insulting and disrespecting the Deity. Screening of this film hurting religious sentiments of Hindus should be immediately stopped or the scene denigrating the Deity should at least be omitted from the film. Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) submitted a representation with the above demand through email and fax to the Central Censor Board. The representation was submitted by Mr. Shivaji Vatkar, the coordinator of HJS for Mumbai, Thane and Raigad districts in the name of Mr. Vinayak Azad, an officer of the Censor Board. The representation was submitted to Mr. Deepak Tandel, the assistant of Mr. Azad in his office. Other members of HJS present on the occasion were Miss Nikita Kaperkar, Smt. Bharati Berde, Mr. Sandip Shingade and Mr. Ajit Bhandare besides Mr. Pradip Kondalak and Mr. Sanjay Ambavale.

It has been mentioned in the representation that HJS has submitted similar representations demanding omission of objectionable scenes from films like ‘Gallit Gondhal, Dillit Mujara’, ‘Slum dog Millionaire’ etc. that led to hurting religious sentiments of Hindus; but the Film Censor Board has not taken any action; therefore, please inform HJS about course of action proposed to be taken in this regard.
