Effect of pro-Hindu organizations exerting pressure !

Karve (Dist. Satara) : Police and Government administration allocated place for installing statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj; as a result of pressure exerted by pro-Hindu organizations.

1. Road-widening work is going on Karve- Shenoli State Highway at Karve, Taluka Karad. There is a statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj at a chowk near Karve village which is under the Government’s jurisdiction.

2. It was claimed by the State Irrigation Department that the statue was encroachment on Government’s land and the Department was trying to shift it somewhere else. On 28th June, a notice was served to the Gram-Panchayat that the Government would be shifting that statue; with copy of the said notice forwarded to Karad Gramin Police for information and seeking police protection from them for carrying out the work.
