Sewage water mixed with Chandrabhaga and moss, rags lying everywhere in its sand basin !
Pandharpur : Sewage water from the city is directly joining River Chandrabhaga which is destroying the sacredness of this River which has been so much praised by Saints. Water of the river has become very dirty and in the sand-basin of this river, one can see only rags and moss spread everywhere; leading to filth and stink spread all over the place. (The Govt. should find prompt solution to see that sewage water is not taken to the river basin and it should be first processed before joining the River flow ! – Editor, Dainik Sanatan Prabhat)
Crowd visiting Pandharpur during ‘Ashadhi waari’ is increasing but there is not enough water in the river and to it, is added sewage water. Sewage water from the river bank is collected in a pool in the sand –basin of River Chandrabhaga. After the water increases beyond the capacity of the pool, it enters River flow. This has been going on for many years now. Many development plans have been devised and funds were allocated but the money was spent in unnecessary things; hence, devotees have to take bath with sewage water. Warakaris are therefore, demanding that the Government should immediately undertake ‘Namami Chandrabhage’ project.
River-basin of Chandrabhaga and sand to be cleared within two days – Promises Solapur District Collector
All the moss, trash, contaminated water and sand will be cleaned from river basin of Chandrabhaga. Voluntary organizations’ help will also be taken for the same, was the promise made by Solapur District Collector, Ranajitkumar when everywhere the issue of dirt in River Chandrabhaga was started to be discussed.
