The pollution caused due to immersion of idols made of PoP is negligible

Pune: Shri. Sandip Joshi, a researcher doing research on pollution of river water has claimed that pollution caused due to immersion of Ganesh idols made from Plaster of Paris is negligible compared to the pollution caused due to other reasons. In fact, the Calcium Sulfate in these idols, help to purify the water.

Shri. Joshi has been doing research for the past 8 years on pollution of water in rivers and lakes. He said that it does no take much time for PoP to dissolve in water. The chemicals used in painting the idols can cause pollution to some extent, however, the pollution thus caused is very nominal compared to the pollution caused due to industrial waste.
