Due to lack of adequate rains, paddy crop is on the brink of withering in 11 mandals in the district. The water levels in Nagavali and Vamsadhara rivers have touched bottom level. Speaking to The Hans India here on Tuesday, Endowments Assistant Commissioner V Shyamala Devi said, “We will offer special prayers to the Almighty for rains and to end the scourge of drought in the district.
I sincerely hope that within the next few days, we will see a very dramatic end to the dry spell and there would be constant rains putting an end to the crisis afflicting the mankind,” she added. Similar prayers were organised in the past seeking divine benediction and help to tide over the water crisis, and the god blessed the district with bountiful rains, she recalled.
