District Collector and DSP positively respond to demands of ‘Ganeshotsav Mahamandal’, supported by HJS

Nandurbar : Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) has brought together all ‘Ganeshotsav Mandals’ in the city and formed ‘Ganeshotsav Mahamandal’. Discussions were held with District Collector Dr. Kalshetty and District Superintendent of Police (DSP) Rajendra Dahale on demands made by the ‘Mahamandal’ when they promised to solve the problems by responding positively. On 21st August, a joint meeting of all Ganeshotsav Mandals was held at Motha Maruti Mandir which was attended by about 100 office bearers of various Ganesh mandals.

Promises made by District Collector on demands made by HJS and other ‘Mandals’

1. Requirement of various permissions related to different department to be given through ‘single window’ system.

2. Ganesh idols are directly thrown in water from the bridge at ‘Prakasha’ since there is no arrangement to go to the river-basin. It is denigration and crane will be provided or road will be made to go to the basin, for immersion on that day.

3. In ‘Damini Squad’, four officers of Dy. Police Inspector’s level will be appointed to put curb on boys indulging in eve-teasing on roads and near marquees. Members of ‘Ganeshotsav Mahamandal’ and organizations, Dr. Narendra Patil of HJS, Shri. Shekhar Marathe of ‘Jai Bajarang Vyayam Shala’, Shri. Arjun Marathe of ‘Maruti Vyayam Shala’, Bunty Netalekar of ‘Bhagavati Vyayam Shala’, Premsindhi of ‘Gauriputra Vyayam Shala’ and office bearers of ‘Maanaache Ganapati’ viz. ‘Baba Ganapati’, ‘Dada Ganapati’ and ‘Kaka Ganapati’ etc so also office bearers of ‘Rokadeshwar Vyayam Shala’ and other Mandals were present on the occasion.

Demands made in representation

  1. Religious sentiments are hurt due to donation of idols and it is also not as prescribed in Dharma. Such collected idols are later found in damaged states, causing insult of Deity and should be banned.
  2. Things like immersion of idols in artificial water tanks; carrying idols in Municipality’s garbage vans, is also against Dharma-shastra and hurts religious sentiments of Hindus; so it should be stopped.
  3. Roads used for taking idols for immersion should be repaired on permanent basis.
  4. Street-lights should be on and load shedding should be avoided on the day of immersions, so also during Ganeshotsav
