Thane : Thane Municipal Commissioner (TMC) Sunil Chavan was submitted a representation by Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) explaining how immersion of Ganesh idols in flowing water is appropriate, as per the science. A wall can be erected in all lakes in Thane where idols can be immersed. It will be a good alternative for artificial water tanks and will also save money. TMC then promised to activists of HJS present on the occasion that he would give instructions for erecting wall for immersion.
Municipal Corporation is letting sewage water mix with sea without processing the same. It leads to pollution of natural water bodies. Nothing is done for its prevention but hue and cry is made about pollution of water with immersion of Ganesh idols. Municipal Commissioner was submitted the statistics of pollution caused due to mixing of sewage water without processing; causing various ailments.
