Places of cremation auctioned at Manikarnika Ghat in Varanasi

Pathetic condition of Hindus owing to lack of Dharmashikshan ! Out of their greed for money, Hindus exploit helplessness of own brethren when they come for cremation of family or relatives etc; thus making other Hindus lose their faith in Dharma ! Advocate Kamaleshchandra Tripathi submits representation to District Collector against traders making business of last rites !

dah_sanskar320Varanasi : Advocate Kamaleshchandra Tripathi has demanded through a representation submitted to District Collector that stringent action should be taken against the traders of wood and anti-social elements who demand lot of money from the grief-stricken and mourning relatives of the dead persons who come to Manikarnika ghat for performing last rituals and exploit the situation.

Demand Rs. 15,000 – Rs. 20,000 for cremation of one dead body   

Ghat has been submerged due to floods and there is inadequate place at crematorium at Manikarnika ghat for carrying out cremation and last rites of the dead. Few persons are taking disadvantage of the same. Presently, 3-4 dead bodies are cremated in front of Ratneshwar Mandir at Sindhia Ghat and ‘Smashaneshwar Mahadev Chhat’. Wooden traders are auctioning these places.

Rs. 15- 20,000 are charged for cremation of one dead body at ‘Smashaneshwar Mahadev Chhat’. Those, who have money, don’t have to wait, they finish cremation and leave; but those who do not have money, are made to wait for hours.

Agents extracting money from people by telling them fabricated problems !

In the morning, 2-3 pyres are set at the ghat. On questioning, it is informed that some VVIP’s dead body is to be cremated but the truth is that agents find rich people coming for cremation; scare them by telling them about fabricated obstacles in cremation and sell the already set pyres to them.
