Pune : Pune and Pimpri-Chinchawad Municipal Corporations purposely did not release enough water in the river on the day of Shri Ganesh idol immersion, for promoting the drive of immersion in artificial water tanks and another anti-Dharma drive of immersion with ammonium bicarbonate. They took every care to see that devotees would be inconvenienced and would not be able to immerse idols in river water. Lack of facilities like safety railings on the bridges of ghats where idols were to be immersed; filling up holes on the bridge or erecting wire-fencing on road etc. caused lot of inconvenience to devotees; therefore, prompt action should be taken against PMC Commissioner Kunal kumar, Mayor Prashant Jagtap, Chief of Solid Waste Dept. Suresh Jagtap and other concerned officers who directly or indirectly prevented devotees from abiding by Dharma and created problems for immersion. Also, necessary facilities should be provided for devotees on the coming days of immersion for those who want to immerse idols in river. The above demand was made by Shri. Sunil Ghanavat, Maharshtra State Coordinator of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) during a press conference held here.

Advocate Devadas Shinde, regional President of ‘Lashkar-e-Hind’, Shri. Shambhu Gaware of Sanatan Sanstha, Shri. Swapnil Talekar, regional President of ‘Marathi Samrajya Sena’, advocate Prakash Shejal, advocate Chandrakant Bhosale of ‘Hindu Ekata Andolan’ and ‘Gargi Seva Foundation’s Shri. Vijay Gawade were present on the occasion. All participating ‘Hindutvavadis’ criticized PMC’s anti-Dharma and shoddy services offered in connection with immersion of Shri Ganesh idols.

‘Flying Squads’ to be appointed to keep an eye on PMC’s service ! – Advocate Devadas Shinde

Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporations although supposed to be ideal and rich, did not extend any facility to Ganesh devotees for immersion of Shri Ganesh idols in river water. Both the municipal corporations did not preserve religious sentiments of devotees; therefore, they should be dissolved. We are now preparing 5-7 ‘flying squads (Bharari Pathak)’ to keep an eye on the shoddy working of these municipal corporations. If the wrong things observed during ‘Ganeshotsav’ are not rectified within a day, cases will be filed against Commissioner and administrative officers, with the help of ‘flying squads’.
Shri. Swapnil Talekar demanded resignations of the Commissioner and Mayor for paying disregard towards important religious rituals of Hindus.

In a press release published by HJS, it is stated that

1. Bridge connecting Omkareshwar and Nene ghat have become a death trap. Anyone can fall in water from this bridge due to holes. No attention was paid even when the ditches were big. Many Ganesh-devotees fell down due to the holes and had tough time.

2. On 6th September, enough water was not released in river although it was immersion day. At one place, small ferryboats were made available for immersion in river water but the employees were charging money for the same.

3. Water was not released in river at Chinchwad nor was there water in artificial water tanks, therefore, idols could not be immersed properly.

Is PMC going to recommend use of chemicals for immersion of ‘tabuts’ ? – Sunil Ghanavat

PMC always undertakes anti-Dharma drives only at the time of Hindus’ festivals so as to create obstacles for Hindus in abiding by their Dharma. Is PMC which is promoting immersion of Shri Ganesh idols in ammonium bicarbonate, going to advise same thing to Muslims for immersion of ‘tabuts ?

The esteemed Ganeshotsav Mandals should also abide by Dharmashastra and immerse idols in river ! – Sunil Ghanavat

Last year falling prey to false claims made by PMC about water pollution, some of the esteemed Ganesh Mandals had immersed their idols in artificial water tanks erected by the Municipal Corporation; but it was observed that those idols were later taken out and re-immersed in river or water bodies. Many Ganesh Mandals follow these high-esteemed Ganesh Mandals; therefore, such Mandals should not fall prey to false propaganda but immerse their idols in river as per Dharmashastra, appealed Shri. Sunil Ghanavat while answering to a question, asked by a reporter.
