We will strongly oppose the Government taking over management of temple at Alandi ! – HJS

Phalgun Shuddha Navami, Kaliyug Varsha 5111

It was recently published in the newspapers that the Government was planning to take over the management of ‘Sanjivan Samadhi Mandir’ of the great Saint Dnyaneshwar Maharaj at Sreekshetra Alandi revered by thousands of Hindus and Warakari Sect.
The Government is feigning that the reason for taking over management of the temple is to develop the pilgrimage place; but the true motive behind such move is to pocket millions of rupees collected by way of donations and to grab the 300 acres of land owned by the Devasthan and it is quite apparent to the people. Pandharpur Devashthan is under the control of the Government for past so many years. If the Government was so keen about development and progress of the place, why no development has taken place in Pandharpur? Forget about the development, there, the Government has not provided even wash-rooms for the warakaris. The Government must answer this first. Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) has warned to undertake agitation to oppose the move of the Government to take over of management condemning its anti-Hindu Dharma stance.

The Government has so far taken over management of the famous temples like Sree Siddhivinayak Devasthan in Mumbai, Sree Sai Sanstha in Shirdi, Sree Vitthal-Rukmini Mandir Devasthan at Pandharpur etc. It has been observed that the main objective for ‘governmentalization’ of these devasthans was to usurp the funds collected in these temples. It has been brought in the open that the political leaders have pocketed millions of rupees from the funds of Sree Siddhivinayak Temple alone. The Mumbai High Court had also commented on the subject. The meetings of Sree Siddhivinayak Trust are held in 7-star hotels and money donated by the devotees is thus wasted. The Government should first explain that whose development  it has achieved by holding such meetings in five-star hotels. It is a well-known fact that these temples have been taken over by the Government to appease the disgruntled members of their parties by offering them the trusteeship of these temples. We say that the Government should first try to run the State properly. Rather than interfering in the management of the Hindu temples, it should first tackle the problems like naxalism, terrorism, inflation and corruption. The Government that came into power for the progress of the State has, in fact, made the State bankrupt. It is, therefore, clear what kind of development such Government will achieve by taking over the management of the temples.

If the Government is really keen to achieve progress, it should first ‘governmentalize’ at least one mosque, madarasa, durgah and church. On the contrary, the Government is giving millions of rupees by way of grants for their development. In fact, it has been brought to the notice that the money donated by Hindus has been distributed by the Government Trustees to Muslims and Christians. On one hand, therefore, we see the Government taking over management of temples and on the other hand, it is giving grants to madarasas and churches which is quite paradoxical. It is an overall attempt on the part of the Government to grab wealth of Hindu Temples. If the Government wants to achieve progress of Maharashtra, it should first ‘governmentalize’ all the educational institutions, cooperative sugar factories and credit organizations of the leaders in the State.

The Government had hatched a plot to take over all temples belonging to Hindus, Sikhs, Jains and Buddhists but this ploy was jointly foiled by Warakari Samoradaya, HJS, VHP etc and other pro-Hindu organizations and sampradayas. As such, it will be difficult for the Government to take over the Alandi Temple. Hindu Janajagruti Samiti is, therefore, requesting the Government to give up its plan to take over the Alandi temple considering the provocation it could cause among the citizens.

It is a well planned move of the Govt. to finish Hindu Dharma ! – H. B. P. Anilkaka Badave, Pandharpur

How many dilapidated temples have been restored by the Government so far? It is the Government’s ploy to appease Muslims and Christians by taking over temples. It is a well planned move of the Government to take over temples and finish Hindu Dharma by accusing Hindu saints. We condemn this Government and make an appeal to Hindus to jointly ask for an explanation from the Government.

Govt’s wrong action will not be tolerated ! – H. B. P. Sudhakar Maharaj Ingale, District-President, all-India Warakari Mahamandal, Solapur

The improper action of the Government to take over the religious places of Hindus will never be tolerated. The money collected in the temples has to be utilized for the devotees. We will try to get more details in the matter to undertake a campaign.
