Nashik : Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) has been undertaking various drives on the occasion of Ganesh festival at different Ganesh festival committees, offices of elected representatives and government etc. Awareness is created amongst different ‘Mandals (festival committees)’ towards ideal manner of celebrating Ganesh festival by curbing unnecessary exhibition of enthusiasm.
HJS volunteers met advocate Rahul Dhikale, a municipal councilor of MNS from Nasik to get support to the ideal Ganeshotsav drive. They explained to him different activities and movements undertaken by HJS to prevent malpractices taking place during celebration of this festival; seeking his support. He lauded and supported HJS drive as also extended best wishes for the same. He made an appeal to immerse idols in flowing water as per Dharmashastra. Shri. Anil Patil, Shri. Ravindra Sonaikar, Shri. Shailesh Pote of HJS were present on the occasion.
HJS submitted a representation to Shri. Borde, Dy. Municipal Commissioner of Nasik explaining how Shri Ganesh idols were taken as donations or immersed in artificial water tanks by Nasik Municipal Corporation, in the name of pollution. Devotees were forced to do these things at some places. Shri Ganesh idols should be immersed in flowing water as per Dharmashastra and there is a Government report saying that immersion does not cause pollution. A representation was submitted to him by HJS volunteer Shri. Shashidhar Joshi and Shri. Prafull Pathak, a ‘Hindutvavadi’.
