Inconvenience to devotees by Pune Municipal Corporation on the day of Gouri immersion also !

Devotees were discontent since there was no water in the river !

Awakening on behalf of Hindu Janjagruti Samiti at immersion ghats !

Devotees had to do such acrobatics for immersing Ganesh idols at Omkareshwar bridge

Pune Municipal Corporation’s behaviour like Hitler ! Topsy-turvy Swastik on the Kalash of Municipal Corporation !
Surprisingly, instead of Nirmalya-kalash, there were garbage drums ! Which reflects the attitude of Corporation in respect to Nirmalya.
No such arrangement for immersion was made on any other ghat except Nene Apte ghat

Pune:  Pune Municipal Corporation’s attitude in not allowing water in the river, was an indirect obstacle for devotees wanting to immerse Ganesh idols in the flowing water as per scriptures. In this context, after raising the issue by Hindu Janjagruti Samiti and many Ganesh devotees, it was expected that behaviour of Municipal Corporation will change. On the contrary, instead of changing their anti-religious act, the Municipal Corporation by not allowing water in the river on the day of Gauri immersion also, deceived and caused great inconvenience to the devotees, who were totally disappointed. Apart from no water, road leading towards river bed was very rough, insufficient number of tables for keeping Ganesh idols on immersion ghat, which depicts miss-management on the part of Municipal Corporation for the devotees. On behalf of HJS, a campaign within ‘Ideal Ganesh Festival’ was undertaken on immersion ghats at Pune and Pimpri-Chinchvad cities. Volunteers of the Samiti, through display of boards, pamphlets and announcement on loudspeakers, conveyed to the devotees religious background of immersion and appealed them for immersing Ganesh idols in flowing water, which received positive response from many devotees.

Employees of PMC keeping record only of immersion in artificial tanks

On behalf of Municipal Corporation, record of Ganesh idols immersed in artificial tanks and river is maintained, but it was observed that employees of the Corporation were noting only the idols immersed in artificial tanks while those immersed in river was on approximation basis. (This is how in reality the figure of idols in artificial tanks swells – Editor)

Selective reactions from the devotees

1 On the occasion of Hindu festivals like Ganesh celebration, Dahi-handi etc. deliberate efforts are made to divide Hindus by twisting the rules, while no one utters a single word over the acts of piercing iron rods in ear by other communities.- One Ganesh devotee

2. On the very day of immersion no water was provided in the river. When the Corporation allows waste water, garbage etc. in the river bed, why immersion of Ganesh idols is disallowed ? Devotee’s angry reaction on Omkareshwar Ghat

3. Our saints and sages have guided us to immerse idols in flowing water which certainly has religious background. Hence we have immersed the idol as well as stale flowers (Nirmalya) in flowing water. Shri. Nikhil Samudra.

4. Many devotees opined that water in the river was not clean and it is due to helplessness that they are immersing the idols in the river. (On the basis of above comments, it proves that Municipal Corporation deliberately did not preserve water in the river only to encourage their anti-religious act of artificial tanks as well as publicity in different media.- Editor).
