Memorandum from devout Hindus regarding inconveniences at immersion ghats and denigration of Shri Ganesh idols in artificial tanks under the administration of Municipal Corporation, Pimpri-Chinchwad

Pimpri (Pune):  In the absence of water in the river bed, many devotees had to immerse Ganesh idols in artificial tanks prepared by Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation. Administration should explain in writing as to why foolproof facilities were not provided on Ghats by the Municipality. Corporation employees are putting pressure on the devotees to immerse idols in artificial tanks and as such the employees should be strictly warned to refrain from such acts. It is observed that Corporation employees went away leaving the immersed idols scattered in the area. Apart from terrible denigration of Shri Ganesh, religious sentiments of crores of Hindus have been hurt. A Memorandum on behalf of all devotees, various devout Hindu organizations and Hindu Janajagruti Samiti was given on 14 September in the name of Shri Dinesh Waghmare, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, requesting him to take serious note and see that no inconvenience is caused to Ganesh devotees during immersion on all the ghats. On this occasion, State President, Lashkar-e-Hind, Adv. Shri Devdas Shinde, Shri Nilesh Joshi, Hindu Janajagruti Samiti and representatives of other Hindu organizations were present.
